PDLC or Photo-Chromic Film

◆PDLC(Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals)

Polymer dispersed liquid crystals (PDLC) are known to be smart materials, as their light transmission can be controlled under the influence of an external electric field. A PDLC is a composite material that consists of liquid crystal (LC) droplets dispersed in a solid polymer matrix. These tiny LC droplets, which are designed to be a few microns in size for practical application, are responsible for the unique behavior of the PDLC material. By changing the orientation of the LC molecules through application of an alternating electric field, it is possible to vary the intensity of the transmitted light. As pictures shows photographs of a PDLC device and the operation schemes for both the off and on states. A PDLC film positioned between two transparent electrodes can be switched from an opaque to a transparent state through application of voltages to the electrodes; this is due to the birefringence of the LC droplets and the matching of their refractive index to that of the polymer matrix. Since the discovery, PDLCs have been actively studied for application in smart glasses, privacy windows, light shutters, and projection displays.

Now Force-one have produced two kind of PDLC. They are ITO electrodes(white color) or transparent conductive polymeric(gray color). Our PDLC used new develop width view angel liquid crystal, So it is more clear, when you use it on your windows.

◆Photochromic Window Film & Sun Control Film

Photochromic window film provides difference transparent in sunny day, cloudy, evening or underground parking lots to ensure your safety. Adjust the color of the outdoors will quickly change to dark to protect your eyes, improve the efficiency of heat insulation.

Driving against the sun during the day, safer driving at night.

Photochromic window film darken substantially in response to UV light in less than one minute, and continue to darken a little more over the next fifteen minutes. The film begin to clear in the absence of UV light, and will be noticeably lighter within two minutes, mostly clear within five minutes, and fully back to their non-exposed state in about fifteen minutes.

Because photochromic compounds fade back to their clear state by a thermal process, the higher the temperature, the less dark Photochromic window film will be. This thermal effect is called "temperature dependency" and prevents these devices from achieving true sunglass darkness in very hot weather. Conversely, Photochromic window film will get very dark in cold weather conditions. Once inside, away from the triggering UV light, the cold film take longer to regain their transparency than warm film.

ATARAPA's Photochromic window film filter 99% UVA as well as UVB. UVB light is more energetic and causes sunburn as well as skin damage.
